June has been a great month at GEOS, Los Angeles – South Bay, despite the “June Gloom” that has finally cleared up! We are so happy to be welcoming the new summer season this month, and our students couldn’t be happier as they enjoy the California summer weather!
This month we have been very busy as we started a new semester on June 20th, and we have also been working on putting finishing touches on all of our summer activities. We are excited to have many activities for our students to enjoy this summer including trips to Universal Studios Hollywood, the world-famous Disneyland, and of course to our beautiful California beaches to enjoy some fun in the sun!

Currently we have 15 Nationalities represented in the school among our 53 Students. We extend a warm welcome to all the students studying English with us!
This is the first time I have ever said “Wow! I’m proud of myself.” My graduation is just ahead, and I am ready to transfer to a university. I now think back to the beginning of my English study at GEOS. I started from beginner class and finished in the advanced class at the end. Through my English studies at GEOS, I learned that the most important thing to do your English is repetition. While I shared my daily event in class every day, I suddenly noticed, “I know a lot of vocabulary.” Also my favorite class activity was the presentations. Of course, everyone gets nervous the first time, but I realized it is actually fun. A lot of experience in GEOS gave me confidence. Therefore, I wasn’t worried about anything when I started studying at El Camino College. Although I have learned so many things there as well, GEOS is the most special for me. I still keep in contact with my many GEOS friends all over the world. My next challenge is studying at the university. However, I know that if I make the effort to achieve my goal, I will make it. Students!! Enjoy American life and expand your abilities. Don’t worry, you are already honorable because you arrived in America.

This month our students had a great time getting to know one of our newest staff members, our operations coordinator, Caroline. During their lunch out with Caroline, they tried new foods at a restaurant they had never been to before while they chatted with Caroline and had a great time!
Our Summer Activities will be starting on July 1st, kicking off with a fabulous tour of Los Angeles!! Favorite sites of past tours include the Staples Center (where the LA Lakers play), the famous Hollywood sign, and, of course, Hollywood Boulevard, the Walk of Fame, and Rodeo Drive! We look forward to sharing the pictures with you!
We are very happy to have Hitoa, our fantastic intern, continuing with us for an extra few weeks through July. Thank you, Hitoa!
We will also be welcoming a new member to our GEOS, Los Angeles team in July. Her name is Jennifer, and we are excited to introduce you to her as we welcome her to our team very soon!
